One single word.  YELLOW.  Back in September of 2002, the idea of this website was not even a remote thought in anyone's mind.  But, if it was not for the color of YELLOW, none of this would have ever happened!  Here is the story....

My good friend and I both owned the Motorola V60i and we both agreed that all of the original Motorola faceplates that were being offered for it were all dull and boring.  They just were not working for either of us.  Well, with both of us being the “YELLOW” freaks that we were, and still are today, we decided to spruce up our faceplates to make them more lively looking, and quite frankly to be honest with you, to also match everything else that we owned!  My friend had all of the Powder Coating equipment to make this happen because he liked to customize everything that he owns, especially his mountain bikes. So we decided to Powder Coat our personal faceplates and they turned out INCREDIBLY AWESOME!! We both were beyond impressed!

Well, me being the eBay freak that I was and still am, I thought of the cool idea to sell my personal set just for the fun of it. I figured no big deal, I can just go buy another set at the store and make another one in YELLOW. Well, on September 25th, 2002, I created the very first YELLOW faceplate auction and it ended up selling in less than 2 hours!!! Then it all began. Instead of buying just another set for myself, I decided to “take a risk”…..and I purchased 20 sets so I could try to make an extra buck for gas money. Needless to say, those 20 sets sold in less than a week and within that time frame, I literally received HUNDREDS of emails from people all over the world, requesting many different colors, other than YELLOW. The rest is history.  I had found my niche.

After a couple of months of selling these faceplates on eBay, I ended up investing in all of the equipment so I could Powder Coat them myself. My friend was getting tired of having to Powder Coat almost every day because the orders just kept coming in. Not to mention he lived over 30 miles away and I was getting tired of having to drive back and forth every single day. So I set up a workshop and it has not stopped since.

On April 20th, 2003, my personal website, www.metalfaceplates.com was born. I decided I really needed a website so I could have one single place where everyone could go to view all of my pictures and colors at one time.  Well, after about a year of having a first generation website, that basically just got the job done...barely...I decided that it was time to move to the next level and create a truly more professional and way more functional website.  And that brings us to the now.

On Friday December 10th, 2004, our new website finally came alive at last!  We now offer 34+ different colors, which include real Chrome and 24 Karat Gold Plated.

About the Owner

My name is Chad Louis Martini and I am an Entrepreneur.  A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture. Born in 1975 in Erie, Pennsylvania, I am a former Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.  I served my Country for FOUR AWESOME YEARS, and I do not regret a single second of it.  I met some of my best friends while I was enlisted, and we are all still great friends.  It was one of the best times of my life, but it just was not for me.  I wanted more.  I wanted to move on to something bigger and better, and I didn't want to work for anybody.  I just recently got married to my beautiful wife in May of 2005 and we both are so extremely excited.  You can view our wedding pictures here. I absolutely love what I do, Powder Coating metal faceplates, because it is my true art and I have fun while I do it.  It's how I can show the world how I shine!  You have to love what you do.....otherwise, you're missing out in life.  I put forth 110% into this business at all times, and I truly take pride in each and every single faceplate that I create.  I really hope you have enjoyed my website, and that you will continue to enjoy it in the future.  Other interests include Mountain Biking, and listening to the coolest band of all time, Train!
